The purpose of the overnighter was to bond with each other and learn important things needed from an AVID Ambassador. There were activities that helped us bond such as the game zoomy zoomy, woof, a little team cheer and many other fun activities. Zoomy zoomy and the woof games has taught us communication and critical thinking skills. This is important because we need good communication to have a great club that has bonded, trust, remembering skills and other things that helps each other. Another activity that we did was Fort Building and this has taught us to collaborate, communicate, accepting others ideas and believing that you can do it. The little team cheer has taught us important things that relate to AVID such as WICOR, TRF, and binder check. This is important because these are different types of things that we do in AVID.
The highlights of that night was hide-and-seek and bonding with Media. Hide and seek was a highlight because everyone was having so much fun getting scared here and there. Also we were all separated into teams of 3 and we were all running around. But as soon as the finders came, we all became silent like a little bunny. Then the last round of hide and seek came and this time, the teachers were seeking. It was so funny because everyone was searching for the best spot to hide, but the teachers were already coming. It was funny because we just hear footsteps coming fast down the hall and it was Ms. Nakagawa. Her and her little voice goin, “Found you”. We were all trying to hold in our loud giggles, but later it all came out. Bonding with media is another highlight of our night because it seemed that we were close and knew everyone already. It was really nice of Mr. Toyota to give us a camera and give us tips on how to use it. Now, whenever AVID students go on AVID field trips, we have proof of where we went and what we learned. Bonding with Media has taught us AVID Ambassadors to know how to take picture with or without the tripod. Also this Media experience has bonded the AVID Ambassadors and Media close together.
